My Students

I teach a diverse group of students. They come from different countries, different backgrounds, and different home life situations. The diversity within my classroom provides my students the opportunity to learn and grow as individuals through shared experiences. Part of what I love about my job is the opportunities for these shared experiences to turn into creative projects.

From watercolor to acrylic, transfer mediums to textural surfaces, my students are in search of their voice through their art creations.

They look for new ways to share their stories and to create new stories together.

My Project

As a student, I had the means and accessibility to develop a strong passion and skill using Prismacolor color pencils. I would like to provide my students with the same experience with color pencils in hopes to develop a skill and passion for the medium as I did. The artists grade quality of Prismacolor color pencils is unmatched compared to the typical school grade we use on a day to day basis.

As a Title I school, most of my students do not have access to high-quality art supplies and my school budget makes it difficult to justify the expense.

Funding this project would give students the freedom to experience a good quality medium, without the financial burden​.
