We live in a district that is low-income/high poverty. My students are divided into mixed grade level classes and consist of all types of personalities: athletes, artistic, musical, readers, mathematical, gifted and special services, etc. The classes are also mixed culturally, consisting of Caucasian, African American, Asian and Latino students.
My students are eager to learn and experience new projects as our program two years ago has added a Photography and Graphic Design class where I teach basic photography skills and printmaking techniques.
My students are required to take and print photos for assignments. In the past, I have sent them to the main office to collect their work but due to COVID I am trying to keep them in the classroom both for safety and a matter of convenience.
My Project
I have 18 students enrolled in my 8th grade advanced art class; Photography and Graphic Design. My students are all wonderfully talented. In the past, we have walked across to a different building to print photos for their assignments but because of COVID circumstances have changed. Students are safer to be in the classroom instead of going over to the main building during class time and the office color copier has been moved to the teacher's lounge which is off-limits to students.
I also have one virtual student in this particular class and I need to be able to print the photos she sends me so her mother can pick them up after school so that she is able to participate in all classroom activities.
