Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a school in a working, poor community. My students are new immigrants who struggle to learn because of their language barriers. They speak many languages and come from a large variety of backgrounds. They are also Special Needs students who have to fight even harder to be successful.
My special needs students come from many places and Many of them did not attend school in their native countries.
This causes them to be illiterate in both languages. The struggles they face each day are indescribable and no child should have to experience what they go through.
They are hardworking and energetic children who truly want to learn.
My Project
We are going to use these supplies to do a variety of hands on activities. Anything to make their world come alive. My students are always more interested when I allow them to color and cut and put together fun, engaging projects.
These supplies will make a huge impact on their learning.
They will be able to color code their notes, create fun and colorful projects to celebrate the books they read, and keep organized. All of these are essential to learning with Special Needs students. They love when their work can be displayed in the classroom and the hallway and are always more proud of it when it looks pretty.
