Imagine working for hours on a project on the computer, being very proud of your work, but not being able to share it with others. That's the problem facing the students at our school. We have computers to create great projects but have no way of printing the final project to share with others
The kindergarten through fifth grade students at our school are very inquisitive and eager to learn.
Unfortunately, many of our students do not have access to technology outside of school. Often the only experience they have with technology is the 40 minutes once a week they spend with me in the lab. That is why it is so important for our lab to be stocked with working equipment in order to use that 40 minutes once a week in the most efficient way to teach meaningful lessons. This will help students be successful in the classroom and in life by developing an understanding of how to use a computer, while at the same time, developing critical thinking skills through the software and equipment they use.
My Project
The students at our school love to create projects, but I have seen their enthusiasm dwindle in the past few years because they cannot print their work. They want to be able to show their family and friends what they have worked on in the computer lab but aren't able to without a working printer. By improving our computer lab with a working printer, our students can continue to be inspired and show off all that they have learned in their classrooms by printing their work from the computer. It will also give parents an insight into what their child is learning in technology...all with the help of a small printer.
The students at my school are already at an economic disadvantage compared to their peers in other areas of our state.
By donating to this project you are helping to give the students at my school an equal opportunity to experience learning in a way that they would not get to otherwise due to a lack of funds. By supplying these students with a printer, they will be inspired to keep learning because they will be able to share with others what they have learned even when not sitting at a computer
