I have been teaching at the same Title I school for the last 17 years and every year is better than the last. If I had to describe my students in one word, it would be amazing! They are determined, dedicated, enthusiastic, and engaged. We have just begun a year-long journey of learning full of new experiences and challenges. I know that they are willing to work hard, take risks and make incredible progress.
Every year I teach my students important information like how to read and write and do math problems but in the end, they teach me some pretty important things, too.
Like how to enjoy the moment, show empathy and understanding for each other during difficult times, be flexible, conquer challenges, power through difficult situations and how to be resilient. I am lucky to have them!
My Project
My students would greatly benefit from having access to class-packs of Crayola crayons and markers. Many of the families at my school struggle with financial stability and do not have the extra money for school supplies, but my students still need access to quality materials. These organized class-packs of bright Crayola coloring materials would allow my students the opportunity to have access to the very best materials for our classroom activities and projects. These crayons and markers are "built tough" to endure use by little hands without breaking easily or running out of ink half-way into an activity. Many of my students don't have the opportunity to use markers at home so this project would allow them to have access to them at school.
