Help me give my students adapted materials! Velcro, laminating sheets, and color ink will enhance their learning inside and outside of the classroom setting!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have a variety of low-incidence disabilities. They are in a self-contained special education classroom, where they benefit from a structured environment that provides them with engaging learning opportunities at differentiated levels. In our classroom, we work on functional academics, social/emotional learning, and life skills. My students have a genuine passion for school. Each day they come up with new questions, eager to learn more. They love to challenge themselves and always embrace their mistakes as learning opportunities!
My students` bright personalities, contagious smiles, and amazing dance moves continue to bring light to a world that can often seem dark.
Despite my students struggles, they continue to strive for success in school. Some learning materials that foster my students` success include adapted materials that require lamination, velcro, and color ink. These materials are not cheap, but are necessary for my students` learning. Please help me get the supplies needed to create functional materials that my students will be able to use time and time again!
My Project
Our students will use adapted learning materials throughout Math, English, Science, Social Studies and Life Skill lessons. These materials are durable and can be used over again, allowing for the repeated practice our students need to achieve their goals. Having materials with real-life color pictures will allow our students to better generalize skills across settings. Laminated Velcro activities allow our students to be interactive with the curriculum. Many students do not have the fine motor skills to write, so Velcro materials help these students participate in learning tasks and demonstrate their knowledge appropriately. Please help us give our students learning materials that will meet their unique needs and help them achieve their individual goals!
