Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title I school. Many of my students live in poverty, struggle with proper nutrition, health care and positive family conditions. When they come to class, they are often unprepared, have great difficulty paying attention and learning. Since my students' lives can be so chaotic, I try my best to provide a positive, calm and loving learning environment and I am always looking for every advantage possible for them to focus and learn in order to be successful!
My Project
My students are visual learners. I work very hard to design instruction that meets their learning style. Colored paper will help catch their attention and help keep them organized. Everyone loves color, so the colored worksheets and activities will keep my students engaged and learning. In addition, my students struggle with organization, so if I am able to dedicate specific assignments to particular colors it will help them stay organized. Things seem to get lost in the "sea of black and white" worksheets they typically get. Colored worksheets are easy to identify, stand-out in folders and backpacks and don't get lost as easily as others.
