Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so honored and privileged to teach 26 energetic and amazing kindergarten students every day! My school is in a multicultural, low socioeconomic area in a large urban city. My students come from hardworking, struggling, caring families who may not be able to afford expensive educational materials for their children. In spite of these circumstances, my students come to school excited and eager to learn everything they can!
My students are eager and enthusiastic about becoming expert readers, writers, and learners!
Our number one goal in kindergarten is to learn to read and write! My students love reading and listening to both fiction and nonfiction texts every day.

My Project
My students love to write, draw, and create wonderful stories and original drawings. In order for my students to be successful they need crisp, new supplies such as markers and crayons that are not broken and worn out.
It's very difficult to get excited and enthusiastic about creating an original illustrated story while using old, broken crayons and markers.
The students' supplies from the beginning of the year are looking sad and worn out.
New crayons and markers for every child would be amazing. These new supplies would ignite my students' imagination and creativity again. These brand new school supplies would mean the world to my students and add color to our world!
