My first graders are bubbling with energy to learn. They are the very best part of my job. We start our day out with a flag song, pledge, and then we recite our classroom expectations. They are busy learning in a variety of ways throughout the day.
My students are dreamers, problem solvers, and likely the most creative little people you will ever meet.
They are a happy group of first graders that love school and they love to learn. 100% of our school qualifies for free lunch, yet they don't let hardships stand in their way of learning.
My Project
My goal is empowering students through art. What can teaching humanities offer my students? I can guide them to contemplate, to appreciate beauty, to experience awe and wonder, and to think with depth and sensitivity about life. We need a printer so the children can find elements of art, line, shape, and texture in pictures during math. These can be printed and the students can use them in their interactive journals. When we study plants, the children can identify the parts of a plant in beautiful pictures they find online. They can print the art work examples and then use them in an art lesson. Printers are often the behind-the-scenes workhorses of computer technology. A printer is vital to carrying out the lessons I want to teach. Students will research information and create reports about the elements of art, animals, places they would like to visit. Each child can work at their level, yet their work will look professional and appealing.
I believe having a classroom printer will spark an interest in my students to write more and expand their creativity, since they know "good work" will be printed and put on display for others to see and read.
Seeing in print what one has accomplished will have great rewards for my student. We welcome you to join our classroom by donating and following our journey as we learn to read, write, and create. You can help me empower my students through art.
