I have 36 students in my class who are 6 and 7 years old. I teach in a collaborative classroom. Our school is located in a high poverty area, and all students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though my students do not come from the best home life, they come in each and every day very eager to learn. We spend just about every day on the floor working on our reading and math skills. We learn our skills through games and activities. My students really love the hands-on activities that we have been fortunate to be able to do.
My students need the colored cardstock for new center games. I like to make my own center games for the students because they lose pieces to games so easily. If I make our center games then it is much easier to print a few more pieces so that they can continue to play after they have lost pieces. I also like to make our center games so that I can differentiate them for my students. This is good especially for those who are struggling and those who are ready to move on to a harder skill. Making our center games gives me the freedom to meet the needs of all of the students.
