My students are an incredibly sweet, inquisitive group, always excited to learn new things. They ask a lot of questions when there is an opportunity to explore.
Our class mission statement is, "We will work together to have fun and be our best; we can make our dreams come true!" We wrote it together and repeat it every day.
They are great at supporting and encouraging each other.
Our school is a Title I school where over half receive free or reduced-price lunches. We are in a rural area, but my students all live in town. I have several ESL students. Their academic abilities range from considerably below grade level to well above grade level.
My Project
This project will provide a minimum of 3 unique art experiences for my students. They will paint with watercolors, acrylic paint on canvas, and chalk pastels. If we can get supplies quickly enough, they will produce custom artwork to give as gifts for Mother’s Day.
Art is a powerful component of learning!
It helps students learn new skills so they are able the express themselves. Most of all, it provides some students the only success they experience in school. A success with art has the potential to convince a student that even more is possible, when before all seemed hopeless.
