Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students attend a Title I elementary school in North Carolina. Most of them are bilingual, speaking English only at school. For many of them, their time in Kindergarten is their first time in an educational environment. Many parents/families work 2 or 3 jobs to provide the basic necessities at home. They want the best education for their children and help them as much as they can.
My students are hard-working, curious kids.
They enjoy all hands-on activities and have a variety of interests. Our class works well together and enjoys helping each other learn.
My Project
I am requesting 31 packs of construction paper (assorted colors) and 1 Letters, Numbers, and Shapes Giant Stencil box. With the assorted packs of construction paper, my students will be able to show off their creativity!! They can draw or paint a picture that they can then write about, therefore improving their writing skills. They can create a card to give to a friend or a family member. We can also use the paper to create holiday gifts like a flower to give out on Mother's Day and hearts to give out on Valentine's Day.
With the stencil kit, my students can practice writing letters, numbers, and shapes.
This skill is very important and many times, students enter kindergarten without knowing many letters or numbers. These stencils will be easy for them to trace and will help them learn these important skills.
