Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and countries. They range from general education, special education and ESL students who are just learning the English language. My students have some of the most beautiful souls and often help fellow classmates that are struggling.
I believe that every single student has a purpose in my classroom and can be successful.
As their teacher, I always try to find a way to boost my students' self-esteem, practice what it means to truly love yourself, be accepting of others and find a love for Science.
My Project
The Science classroom is meant for exploration, analysis, and fun. I want my students to be able to think critically when analyzing graphs, charts, and images. Sometimes this is hard when you can't see images and lines clearly. Currently, we're uploading images for the students to view on the Chromebooks, but it's not the same as holding the paper copy and discussing with classmates. At the moment we have to ask permission for colored copies and most of the time images are in black and white.
I want to give my students the opportunity to see Science in color and analyze images and graphs and create projects as a group rather than individually on computers.
Having a color printer in the classroom is going to open up so many opportunities for learning! My students love to do research projects and want to print out images, but they don't have access to the printers at school, let alone colored copies. With the color copier/printer and paper for this project, my students will have the ability to be creative and more engaged in their learning!
