I teach Third grade at a diverse Title I school in southwest Florida. Our students come from numerous cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are an "A" school and one of 27 schools chosen by The Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (ECTAC) for "Exceeding Expectations." Through lots of hard work, our school continues to help our students succeed.
Because this is a Title I school, it is often difficult for all students to come prepared with the supplies they need.
I want to take the burden of school supplies off families that have bigger things to worry about.
My students this year are wonderful students who have tons of potential, but organization is difficult for many of them. I use lots of different strategies to help them be successful in the classroom.
My Project
A big part of being a good student is being organized. I love to use color-coded folders and spiral notebooks (a different color for each subject) to help my students organize their work. This project is very basic and simple -- we need folders with fasteners in the middle in specific colors to organize our work! Blue for math, purple for reading, etc. I know these folders will help my students keep track of their papers, classwork, tests, and other materials. We also need colored pencils which will also help students to color code and organize their work.
Organization is an important skill that my students will carry with them for their entire lives.
Your donations will help my students learn this skill. You'll also be helping me keep my sanity: loose, random papers in desks drive me crazy! Please help us get organized and stay that way for the entire school year!
