Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In our high diversity, Title I school, we pride ourselves on cutting-edge ideas and meeting students "where they are!" The "Blue Ribbon School" status proves that we have high academic expectations for students.
As part of our school's mission, we guarantee that students will have the opportunity to broaden their horizons and become lifelong learners.
The school and parents provide much needed glue, crayons, scissors, technology, etc. However, there are certain supplies that fall outside of the normal school budget - like eye-catching, bright-colored paper. Even our interactive notebooks are fun BUT put them on bright-colored paper? It's a game-changer! Let's face it, though, school budgets just aren't diverse enough to meet this need. That's where you come in!
My Project
In all of my 22 years in education, it has never been so difficult to purchase materials for the classroom. School budgets are spread thin and parents and teachers just aren't able to fill the gap. But does the learning stop? Certainly not! In fact, more learning is going on now than ever. Brightly colored paper will allow me to make colorful cut-outs for students to glue in their interactive notebooks - reviewing past skills and building on things we are learning. With this colored paper, my students will have more opportunities to practice the skills that they are expected to learn - from nouns and adjectives to addition and subtraction, and even the life cycle of a butterfly. When we meet expectations, we succeed. With your donation, there is NO doubt that learning will occur in my classroom.
