Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a hardworking group of kids who strive to be learners, readers, and thinkers. My students attend a high poverty school in which 100% of students qualify for free lunch. They are eager learners, despite some of the difficult challenges they face on a daily basis.
One of my students' favorite parts of the day is our Morning Meeting time where we spend time together building community and learning how to get along, work together, and become family at school.
Most of my students' parents work full time, and struggle with the English Language, so although they want to help their children, many struggle with how to accomplish this. My students' parents want their children to succeed in school so they can have a better life!
My Project
Continuously, I'm reminding students to add detail to their drawings. When asked how to add detail they reply, "with color!!!" Our crayons are broken, our paint is empty and our pastels are broken. In with the new and out with the old.
New Crayola crayons with lots of colors and Sakura oil pastels will make our art pop.
Beginning in the new year, we strive to add six colors to all drawings and our friends help us add detail where we need it.
We have some magnetic tiles and the houses that have been built are amazing. We would love another set of Magnet Building Tiles so we can collaborate together and make a town.
