My Students

My middle school students are crazy, stubborn, fun, diverse learners. Every day is a different adventure as my aides and I change and tweak our instruction and behavior plans almost daily to meet each student and their sassy, sometimes hilarious needs. I have over 50 peer tutors who help, befriend, and include my students in our school community.

Although their severe cognitive disabilities impede their ability to learn at a typical level, their ability to love makes them particularly

unique. Because of that, my classroom requires unique and diverse learning tools and a TON of fun.

My Project

My students earn class dollars throughout the day and are learning to count and spend their money. Since we are in middle school, we are constantly talking about transition and what we are going to do after high school. Giving them this cash register will start to prepare them for a variety of different jobs they could obtain after transitioning from school.

I'm constantly looking to print in color since many of students are in need of behavior charts, communication boards, and individual schedules.

A color printer is a necessity to help make these things clear to the students using them, and the people assisting.

Since I have students who love to move, this sensory cushion will help one of my most wiggliest stay in their chairs.
