Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are second language learners. They are energetic, friendly, and are excited about being in school. They are always curious and eager to learn new things in both languages.
They are Spanish-dominant speakers, and they are learning both the English and Spanish languages in my classroom.
These students are from a low-income community who have been affected by a recent calamity- Hurricane Harvey. As a result of this devastation, I lost several students and received new students because they were displaced. I want the students to feel loved, warmth and cared for when entering my classoom.
My Project
My students need a color printer and a class set of headphones. Due to the devastation of Tropical Storm Harvey, the students were affected emotionally, mentally, and financially. Most students live in low income community. We need the color printer so the students can print bright, vibrant, vivid and colorful copies of their classwork, drawings, awards, projects, and certificates. These items should be displayed in and out of the classroom. I want the color graphics around the room to stimulate their creativity.I would like to provide a positive and welcoming classroom environment, one that students are excited about. I know the students will feel amazing about showing off their accomplishments in color.
Also, it is of great importance to get a classroom set of headphones.
Even though we have headphones on the school supply list, most students can not afford to purchase supplies much less headphones. We need students to be engaged in their learning when in the computer lab or using the IPAD's. I know that the headphones will be used daily in the classroom for many years to come. As a teacher, I would like for each student to maximize their potential in life and in the classroom.
