Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I School in Southern California. Our school is a very small school located in East Los Angeles. Many of my students live in government funded housing. They are English Language Learners and have inquiring minds! Our school is collocated with a Medical Magnet School which is offering all students medical and science opportunity.
My students are enthusiastic about learning and are actively engaged daily in different online platforms.
My Kindergarteners, are eager to learn new things. Distance learning has brought many challenges for us which require us to Zoom and complete hands-on activities. The families have been really cooperative and supportive, willing to learn new things. I am very proud that they login daily, 100% attendance.
My Project
Many students hear of numerous colleges and universities that exist but don't have access to purchasing a shirt for college day. I would like to give them an opportunity to convert a shirt of their own to a college shirt by using the iron-on material and easy Press On machine to make their college shirt of their chose.
If I can have the Easy Press On and Iron Vinyl I can give my student the opportunity in making their own college/ university shirt.
Students come with a wealth of knowledge but are limited to expressing themselves. Many students know of colleges/ universities in their community, other states, or countries but do not have the funds or access to purchase one.
