Help me give my students a college trip to UC Merced! We will be attending a college tour, meeting our alumni who are currently UC Merced college students, and learning about admissions and financial aid.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
More than 90% of our students are First Generation college students; 90% of our students are Latino, 6.5% African-American, 2% Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander; 90% speak English as a second language, and 91% of our students participate in the Free and Reduced Price Meal program. They come from all over the world: Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, Tonga, the Philippines, and some born and raised in California for generations.
Our student body is diverse and they have one thing in common — they are ready to learn, eager to succeed, and determined to go to college.
They love to read and write, study math and science, make art, play music, and play sports — and most of all, they love our school! From hands-on experiments in science class to volunteering in the community, our students' rich academic lives extend beyond the classroom. Our after-school programs are designed with learning and fun in mind and include spending time with our dedicated volunteers. For our high school students, many have jobs, internships, and extracurriculars of their own and are already learning how to balance work, study, and student life.
My Project
College trips will foster a college-going culture at our school not only for the students who attend the trip, but also for those who learn about their trip through their post-visit presentations. The presentations will share with other middle school students the information our students gathered about the colleges through the admissions and financial aid information session, campus tour, as well as conversations with our school's alumni who are current students at UC Merced.
Our school's mission is College For Certain!
We know that if we can expose our students to college early on, they will be informed and motivated to try hard in their academic and extracurricular lives to best prepare themselves for college admissions and success.
