They are hard-working. Many of them work summer jobs and after-school jobs to support their families in addition to being involved in extracurricular activities.
They are pioneers; many of them will be the first in their family to go to college.
They are persistent. Despite obstacles in their way, they persevered and excelled. Navigating high school as low-income students, they have taken advantage of all the resources available to them.
They are dedicated. We've spent many long hours in the library preparing for the SAT, writing personal statements and researching college. They have done it all with pure tenacity!
The College Signing Day is a day of celebration for graduating seniors in the College Edge Program as they commit to a college for the Fall!
Having these supplies will serve two purposes; excitement because we will use these items as raffle prizes for our senior students and utility because these are supplies college students can't live without.
The Chromebook will be used to crush papers and submit online assignments. The Canon printers will help them print assignments when the computer labs and libraries are closed. Each senior who attends will receive a free raffle ticket. A raffle ticket will be randomly picked and the student with the matching number will win one of these college essentials.
