Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As my students are getting ready to venture out of elementary and into middle school, I want them to take one important idea with them. Their education will lead them to a career of their dreams.

I would love to have more college examples in my classroom such as pendants displayed or even giving each student some sort of college gear (hat, t-shirt, keychain, and other trade items) to help motivate my students to continue their education beyond high school.

Every year, I have my students brainstorm what they would like to be when they finish school. Do they want to go to college, or are they looking into a career in sports or another trade? What is their career goal? My students research and learn what it takes to achieve that career goal.

Many students want to go to college while others may not. It's okay if they don't go to college. Perhaps they are going to become experts in a trade such as home inspectors, city planners, etc which doesn't require a college degree but training in this field instead. As a teacher, I want my students to be ready for what's to come after high school. What better way to do this than to have college banners, t-shirts, hats, and other examples to help motivate them to continue their education, whether that's college or a trade.
