This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a historically black high school in the downtown business district of Louisville, Kentucky. We house nine different types of magnet programs that help our students prepare for college and the world of work. Our students are excited about going to college. Approximately 80% of our senior class has been admitted to one or more colleges, and we expect that number to grow.
Our students have bright futures, and we want to make sure that they know our school and community support their efforts to reach their goals.
My Project
All of the items I have chosen will go directly into the hands of seniors who have taken the steps to be admitted to college! We want to encourage them to stay the course, by helping provide items they will need to start living independently on a college campus. We all know college students need textbooks, but often forget the cost burden of dorm and other school supplies. Students need towels, shower caddies, laundry baskets and supplies, and basic dorm room items to help them be able to focus on what is important, their classes. Please help them to be inspired to show up and focus on their education this Fall. We need strong leaders for our future, and these hard-working students are a part of our tomorrow.
