My students need these items - like notebooks, pens, backpacks, towels, and sheets - to be successful as they start their first year of college. We would be able to provide basic school supplies and dorm room necessities.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our 12th grade students are strong, motivated, and independent individuals who have big college dreams. Throughout their senior year, each student has worked diligently to keep up their good grades, participate in extracurricular activities, and have applied to colleges and universities around the nation.
Our students are hardworking and have the potential to be great leaders in our world.
All of the 117 seniors have post-secondary plans and we are proud of them for moving forward with them. We would like to give away the donated items to celebrate their decision to go to college.
My Project
On May 18, 2018, our school will be having College Decision Day. The purpose of this event is to celebrate our seniors who have worked hard throughout their high school career and have taken the necessary steps to pursue higher education as well as have been accepted to college. This is an important event at our campus because it encourages college-going culture for our first generation student population. On average our students apply to 9 colleges or universities each, 98% of them have completed a FAFSA or TASFA, and each has applied to scholarships.
We want to help our students have the right tools to help them be successful as soon as they arrive at their college campus.
These items - like notebooks, pens, backpacks, towels, and sheets - will help seniors be prepared for college. Providing small items like these can make all the difference as the student moves into their dorm room.
