Help me give my students a College Match guide to support them in choosing the best-fit college for themselves as they embark on their college completion journey.
Public Prep is the nation’s oldest non-profit network that exclusively develops exceptional, tuition-free PreK and single-sex elementary and middle public schools. We are determined to graduate 8th grade scholars who thrive in “right-fit,” college-prep public, private, or parochial high schools, and ultimately earn a four-year college degree. While our Boys Prep school is still growing, our Girls Prep schools have graduated over 500 alumnae who are thriving in high schools all over New York City or beginning their college career.
As an all girls school, our students consist of strong young women who are committed to being successful in college.
The majority of the young woman who attend Girls Prep qualify for free/reduced lunch, are students of color, and many of them will be the first in their family to attend college.
While our students graduate in eighth grade and leave us to attend a variety of high schools in New York City, we are still committed to supporting our students through high school, their college application process and college itself.
My Project
Remember the stress of choosing what you thought should be the perfect college for you to attend? Well that’s exactly what my students are facing right now. As high school juniors, my students are beginning to explore the different possibilities available to them. Big schools, small schools, sports teams, science major, theater major, far away, close to home, private school, state school, financial aid, big cities, rural...and so much more! These choices can be overwhelming and it can be challenging to know where to begin.
Owning a personal guide for choosing the best school for each individual and being able to read, annotate and make it a personal note-taking and thinking ground will support each student’s process as they begin to search for their perfect school.
We all know there is no 1 “right school” or magic equation to get accepted, however the College Match book will make finding the right school for each student a little less painful and a little more fun, while giving application tips along the way.
