Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very determined about going to college to become productive citizens. My goal is to teach organization. My biggest challenge for my students is lack of supplies.
"If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem" which is why I asking for help to support my students dreams
My school is Title I, which has a diverse population of students.
Within all this diversity lie my students. My students are the ones who are disorganized, struggle with having school supplies but are determined to succeed. They want to learn and make their parents proud. They are not bad students, just lack guidance and support.
My Project
My students need two giant magnetic lined paper to help with Cornell notes. We also need a case of protective pouches, three self inking stamps, four packs of mounting putty, five packages of pencils and seven multicolor construction paper packs. The construction paper that I am requesting will help studentÂÂs create college pennants as well as their own college or university. Creating the pennants and colleges will increase my students' awareness of different colleges and universities. This will motivate them to do their best at all times. I will use the giant board to teach my students how to write Cornell notes. Using Cornell notes will help them improve their note taking and study skills. Cornell notes will help my students with writing by having them write summaries of what they have learned. The stamps will be used to celebrate their success. Every time they write a Cornell note, I will stamp a positive word on their notes. These words of encouragements are the only words some of my students see and hear. These words will keep the striving to do their best. I will use the laminate, to save their work and post it on our walls. Posting their work on the walls will boost their confidence.
The donations given to my AVID class will show my students that the world supports them and wants them to go to college.
The donations will help serve as visual aids and encouragement to my students. They will encourage my students improve their writing. My studentÂÂs' lives can change if they see how getting good grades can increase their self-esteem as well as get them the positive recognition they deserve. It can also show them how hard work and having a positive attitude can get you into college and beyond.
