Mrs. Dixon from Miami FL is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an Apple MacBook Air to be able to submit college and scholarship applications in order to pursue their post secondary goals.

My school consist of a group of young adults who were displaced from Hurricane Maria and who are motivated and driven to perform well academically and are active in their community. They enjoy challenging themselves in rigorous advanced placement, honors, and college dual enrollment courses. When they are not working hard in class, they are actively practicing for college entrance exams like the ACT or SAT. They also are constantly looking for colleges and scholarships to apply to. Many of my student scholars enjoy giving back to the community by participating in various community service projects. Because of the discipline that’s embedded in the school's academic program, many of the students go off to college to accept academic scholarships and/or pursue a four year degree. Although, these students work hard to perform well academically, they find it challenging to apply to universities, apply for federal and state financial aide, apply for scholarships, and other college preparation activities due to lack of technology at home.
My college bound displaced students need a lot of assistance with navigating the many universities and scholarships that are available here in the state of Florida. The computer will allow students to research and/or complete college and scholarship applications in order to pursue their post secondary goals. Without this needed technology, students will not have the ability to complete college applications. Students are also able to utilize the computer to take practice SAT and ACT exams in order to obtain a college ready test score. Students can also use the device to register to take college entrance exams in order to begin the next phase of their journey.
