Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

My Students
My school consists of a group of young adults who are immigrants, unaccompanied, and homeless youth. Although I teach students who have various financial needs they are all motivated and driven to perform well academically and are active in their community. They enjoy challenging themselves in rigorous advanced placement, honors, and college dual enrollment courses. When they are not working hard in class, they are actively practicing to take an Advanced Placement (AP), ServSafe, and Adobe Illustrator exam which will allow them to obtain an industry certification in Culinary and Digital Design or college credits. These opportunities will allow my students to become competitive in the workforce and pursue their post-secondary goals.
My Project
Each cheerleader will be given a letterman jacket to wear during cold climates and venues. Each jacket need the letter S to represent the school's name. The letters that are being requested will allow the cheerleaders to have a custom jacket that helps to show school spirit while completing the look. Each senior, that participates in the cheer season each year is given a senior sash. This is a tradition and that has been apart of athletic sports across the country. Each senior wear their sash to each game to celebrate how far they have come in school. The other cheerleaders will be given a red and black cheer bow. The cheer bow is apart of the team uniform to also show school spirit by wearing the school's color. To ensure all of the cheer uniformes are taken care of, each student will be given a garment bag to safely store their items. This will ensure that the cheerleaders will not have to rebuy their uniforms due to wear and tear. Instead, they will be able to wear their uniforms for multiple seasons. The Garment bag will also allow the girls to safely transport their uniforms from venue to venue as they compete against other cheerleaders.
