This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school comprises a group of young adults who are immigrants, unaccompanied, and homeless youth. Although I teach students who have various financial needs, they are all motivated and driven to perform well academically and are active in their community. They enjoy challenging themselves in rigorous advanced placement, honors, and college dual enrollment courses.

When they are not working hard in class, they are actively practicing to take Advanced Placement (AP), ServSafe, and Adobe Illustrator exams which will allow them to obtain an industry certification in Culinary and Digital Design or college credits.

These opportunities will allow my students to become competitive in the workforce and pursue their post-secondary goals.

My Project

The sports jacket will be used to keep the students warm when they attend various outdoor events that have a cool climate. Not only will students be able to keep warm they will be able to exhibit their school pride while increasing their self-esteem. Without the jackets, students who are not as fortunate as others may be left in the cold and may find it challenging to participate in cool weather. Donations for this project will make competing and participating at events much easier and allow my scholar-athletes to participate in cheerleading festivities with comfort.
