Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our middle school has a perfect combination of students from various backgrounds. It is this heterogeneous make up that makes our school stand out.
Our kids continuously show acts of kindness and compassion.
They go above and beyond to make sure that everyone feels included. One example of this occurred after one of our school dances. We have two students who are in Special Education that always go to dances together. At this particular dance one of the students couldn't attend, so the other special education student went to the dance without her. At the dance, a popular girl from ASB went up to the student and started to dance with her. She showed that student the time of her life. No one made the ASB student go up to her and include her, she did it all on her own. She made that young girl have the time of her life.
My Project
The earlier we start having a conversation about college with our students the more likely they are to attend college in the future. We want to make sure we keep that conversation going.
We want all our students to increase their college awareness.
We will do this by exposing our students to more colleges and universities and showing them what a college experience looks like.
These materials will be used for college days such as National Signing Day and College Kickoff Day. We want our students to know that committing to a college is cause for a celebration. The cornhole and other field day games will be used during lunch time activities on our college days. The graduation outfits and backdrop will be used so that students can visualize themselves as future graduates.
