Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The Class of 2021 are the most hardworking, and kindest students I have the pleasure of teaching. It is an honor to teach this group a second time! They remind me every day that with a great support system anything is possible.
Their greatest asset is their kindness and support towards one another.
They continuously inspire me to work harder to provide them with equitable access to a great education to live a life of success. 98% of students identify as Hispanic and 83% of students qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch. This year we have worked towards getting prepared to apply to Colleges and Universities next year but given COVID-19 our students are facing some endeavors to finish the year strong.
My Project
The Juniors are in their most important unit in our college advising class. They are working on their portfolios, which include a Resume, Letter of Recommendation, and Essays to have ready to go when they apply to their Colleges and Universities next year. They will each receive a portfolio from me created from home due to our school closing. The ink, filing folders, and envelopes will serve for this purpose.
I want a successful set up with whiteboards, chalkboards, and markers in order to do my online teaching.
The supports of those materials will make our online learning a more engaging and true experience. I want my students to finish strong and be ready for next year.
