I love that my students are energetic and happy to be creating art. They have grown so much in art this year. I am new to this district and it has taken time to adjust to my teaching style. My students have handled that transition with grace and an open mind. I like to create a studio environment where there are many avenues to complete a work of art. Many of my students come from a strict and unsure experience with art in the past. Its been a treat to watch them see new ways to make art! I have been able to introduce new mediums this year and they can't get enough. I would love to introduce more mediums but we are lacking in materials.
My Project
Our school was just built in 2019. The walls are painted a crisp clean white and are in need of color! The art department has been asked to help brighten the walls. Post-It Note Murals are a wonderful way for students to collaborate artistically and brighten up school hallways. This type mural is movable, relatively inexpensive and not permanent. My students are very interested in pixel art. Creating murals with Post-Its Notes would be a large scale pixel creation. Unfortunately I do not have the materials to execute this type of mural. With these materials all of my students could collaborate to make fun, bright, and temporary murals.
