This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is located in downtown Dallas where my students are able to use the city as their laboratory. At our school, students develop a multidisciplinary understanding of the natural world, the built environment, and the social and economic systems of the city. Through project-based learning, students develop their critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills while focusing on character development and citizenship. Our vision is for to prepare and create opportunities for students to become the next generation of citizens, design professionals, and civic leaders equipped with an appreciation and holistic understanding of the urban environment, and the knowledge and skills to design, build, and participate in the future development of the city.
My Project
My goal is for my students to learn more than math.Through my class, I want to make sure that my students have the skills necessary to be successful when they enter the workforce. A recent survey by LinkedIn listed collaboration as the top skill employees are looking for in their candidates.
I can support my students development in collaboration and other future ready skills in many ways, but having a space that encourages collaboration and creativity will be a great start.
Through innovative furniture, like whiteboard tables, my students will be able to work in groups and share their thinking visibly on their table.
