This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students range from K to 8th grade and represent all demographics and socioeconomic groups around our city. All of my students are part of the Leader in Me program. The program follows the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids and Teens which originated from the 7 Habits of Highly Effective people.
With this community project, my students will design, build, and maintain the sustainable community garden.
The ultimate goal of this project is to grow plants and student leaders!
My Project
With the materials listed, my students will take on student leadership roles while learning to collaborate in a school wide community garden. Not only will the students learn all of the sustainability components of gardening, but each one will also take up a student leadership role.
Growing veggies in the community garden will grow student leaders who can collaborate and synergize!
At the end of the next school year, my students will be able to share the skills they have learned from building the community garden with their own families. Thank you for considering to support my efforts to grow student leaders. It is worth it!
