My sixth-grade scholars deserve every possible support and learning activity that will guide them to success both inside and outside of school. We all work together in our small, rural elementary school so that our students may be successful achieving their academic, physical, social, and emotional goals. Our school has a near 50% free or reduced-price lunch population, but our progress and goals attainment demonstrate that hard work and a school-wide positive learning environment can overcome obstacles such as poverty.
"The true strength in our classroom lies in the collaboration of our learners, not in the knowledge of one expert." -Anonymous
Sixth graders need copious opportunities to engage in discussions and dialog that encourage critical thinking and respectful interactions. Working together, rather than alone, is important for my students to build their communication skills. It is always my goal, then, to create a positive and encouraging environment where my students want to work together, to grow as leaders who will make a difference inside and outside of the classroom.
My Project
My students recently received three comfy floor space chairs for our reading center and they absolutely adore them! Immediately they asked if I could purchase more chairs so that every student had his/her own seat. While that is not a possibility, this project makes the acquisition of additional seating a possibility.
Students need spaces that encourage meaningful discourse and collaborative work.
This unique, Flex-Space bundle will provide my students with the seating and workspace that will promote discussions while engaging them in teamwork-based projects. Flexible seating will also tend to the movement and space needs of my sixth-grade scholars. Working together, my students will achieve more than they would alone!
