Help me give my students an organized and comfortable environment that will encourage their learning and keep our tools in working order by providing storage items, yoga style cushions, and foam mats for floor seating.
The students of Collaboration Cabin are a diverse group of 5th graders with varied abilities, interests, and cultural backgrounds. They are bright and energetic with a passion for working together and growing as learners.
I have never taught a group of students who loved to read as much as these do!
They beg for silent reading time and look for opportunities to discuss what they are reading with others. This group also loves to discuss their ideas in science and social studies. Many students in this group enjoy writing and learning new concepts in math as well. They are a well rounded group of young people. I'm excited to watch them grow this year!
My Project
In the first phase of this project, we focused on flexible seating options and tools for learning. Because of the students' love for the items from our last phase, in this phase we would like to provide more seating options like foam mats and yoga style cushions, and storage for these learning tools so that we can keep the items in good condition.
The students have responded so well to the items from our first phase and enjoy using them daily; however, they have commented that we don't have a good storage system for some of our seating options and learning tools, so this project will provide excellent and needed additional resources for our classroom!
