In a few short weeks I will be welcoming 28 fourth graders into my classroom. I teach at an incredible Title One School in Missoula, Montana.
Over the last three years, the students and staff at my school have made building relationships and community in our classrooms and throughout the school a priority.
Through the development of Houses (similar to Harry Potter) we have focused on helping our students grow as good citizens and build a community of respect at our school.
My Project
A class set of dry erase clipboards will replace our worn out white boards, while adding the ability for students to collaborate around the room. We use our white boards every day! New games will help us replace some of the well-loved card games and board games in our classroom.
These games will be used to build community and to help engage students across subject areas.
These games can be adapted to be used in our learning in an engaging and exciting way.
My students have always loved to play games together, and often they do not have games at home. Playing games help children learn cooperation, strategy, and communication.
