My students have no shortage of story ideas, but we do have a shortage of tools to create those stories!
This year, my seventh grade team of students is an extremely good group.
They are intelligent, driven and eager to learn. They really seem to enjoy learning about the different subjects here at school. Since the beginning of the year, we have emphasized the importance of writing. They have written wonderful stories and essays and will continue to write all year long. Revision is incredibly important but often the least favorite part of my students' writing process. Using Google Docs and enabling kids to collaborate on revision in real-time would be motivating and beneficial to their writing.
My Project
The students would use the Chromebooks for Internet research, educational apps and other classroom uses. The real benefit to these Chromebooks is the collaboration that they allow. Using Google Docs and other native Google apps, students can collaborate in real-time on stories, presentations, research and projects. Learning today must incorporate social elements because students use social media in their lives everyday. Harnessing the social energy and incorporating it into school projects and activities makes learning more relevant for the kids. The Chromebooks will be a powerful tool for collaborative learning.
All kids need to learn, to create and to succeed.
If we choose the right classroom tools and design our learning units to incorporate those tools effectively, the students will make staggering progress.
