I teach at a Title I school, and my students have very diverse backgrounds. Some of my students have very rough lives outside of school, so my goal is to make my classroom their safe space. I would like to add comfortable seating and provide additional learning tools that will help them be successful in 5th grade. My goal is for my classroom to be a place where they can leave their baggage at the door and simply focus on learning.
My Project
Some projects aren't easily completed at desks. The items I chose will allow students to work together in small groups comfortably. They will be using them to work on math stations, complete STEM projects and come together for whole group demonstrations.
I believe that flexible seating makes students feel more like they are a part of the classroom.
It allows for more hands-on activities and collaboration and definitely makes every day learning more fun! On top of this, they will help students feel comfortable in our classroom. Being comfortable physically and emotionally will help students focus and lead to better engagement.
