This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students all over the country are being challenged to meet the Common Core Standards. This curriculum is based on the use of technology, teamwork and is project based. In order for students in Pascagoula to be able to meet this challenge they need tools that are easy to use and built for collaborate
My school is a public K-4 school in Mississippi.
The school is 95% free and reduced lunch. My school has a diverse and transient population of students. Many of the students at my school come from very poor families. They do not have access to computers at home. The students I work with are first and second graders. Many of them have had limited experience using any form of technology. Most of the computers at my school are very old.
My Project
I am requesting four chrome books for groups of students to use together. The chrome books are small laptops that use online apps that are designed for collaboration. Students can work on one presentation together using different chrome books. They are easy to use and everything is saved online. Chrome books are perfect for students because they are small, easy to use and app based. They do have software or a hard drive so they do not get viruses or corrupted. The use of online apps allows for maximum collaboration between groups of students. The use of the chrome books will help my students to meet the demands of the new common core curriculum. This curriculum involves using technology to collaborate with other students in your school or around the world. Chrome books will make this collaboration possible.
The Common Core Curriculum is the future of education.
Students are being asked to collaborate and use technology to create projects and presentations. The need for up to date and inexpensive technology for students is greater than ever. The future is one student-one computer. Chrome books is an inexpensive and efficient way to meet this need. My students will be able to work in small groups to create projects and collaborate with other students around the world.
