My students need the Sphero Robot to apply their programming knowledge into hands-on experiences. Through teamwork and collaboration, they will design and create code to program their Sphero to accomplish various objectives.
My students are very diverse; with all kinds of backgrounds, languages, and nationalities. I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th in a suburban community that supports students in many ways.
The exposure and extension of Computer Science and Coding are essential to my mission as a teacher.
Providing my students with the ability to create inquiry-based coding activities is important to them as well as to me. My students don't have a lot of access to Computer Science and Coding resources so providing some learning experiences will broaden them as people.
My Project
Incorporating programmable Sphero robots in my classroom will provide my students with the ability to expand their learning. By using the Spheros, my students will learn that computer science and programming can be exciting.
The hands-on implementation of robots to extend learning is powerful for middle school students!
Coding is a language all students should be exposed to. Programming a robot to move a certain direction or accomplish a particular task can change the way students view their educational experiences. Spheros will help my students to work through differences, learn to collaborate, and work as a team to solve problems. My students will benefit from the Coding with Spheros because they can navigate design challenges in a constructive and inquiry-based way.
