My students love to create new things and work to solve problems. Additionally, they don't mind challenges and can even find hard work fun. Our students use the library to explore, create, research, and learn. We strive to prepare our kids for the future in ways that are relevant and engaging.
The kids at my school are comprised of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders from diverse backgrounds and historically underserved groups.
Around half of our students are from low-income households.
My Project
This project seeks to provide kids and their families with an opportunity to learn to code games that we will then showcase in the school for others to try out.
Not only will students work to create the arcade machines but then they will be able to check out the Kittenbot computers to code games at home with their parents and families.
One of the game machines that we build and Kittenbot computers will be available for checkout in the library in addition to another arcade machine that we will house in the school library to showcase the games. We hope to bring the learning that is taking place at school home for the kids.
