My Students

I have a dynamic group of kids from kindergarten to grade 3 in a library learning commons/makerspace. A wide range of abilities and cultural backgrounds adds to our growing sense of community.

Students love to be creative and to work collaboratively.

From kindergartners who are just starting to explore the school and all the library has to offer to our third grade 'experts', we have so much to share and to learn from and with each other.

We strive for an honest and respectful community that recognizes and appreciates differences, accepts challenges, and promotes kindness and perseverance.

My Project

This project, Coding Together, will help us to teach coding to K - 2 MakerSpace between the computer lab and library media center.

Using toys from Lego Education is a fun way for students to explore a topic that may otherwise be intimidating.

As the library media specialist working alongside the computer science teacher, we can show students the importance of coding and introduce the language associated with coding. Kids will see how coding is imbedded in so much of our world. Overlapping our teaching will help to reinforce coding more effectively.
