My Students

My classroom is unique as I teach about 400 diverse students in grades Kindergarten to 4th. Students come to the Media Center once a week where not only do they enjoy listening to read alouds and checking out books, but they enjoy learning about technology.

My students have worked with robots, Makerspace activities, Osmo's, keyboarding and some coding.

I feel it is important for students to have a better understanding of coding and I am excited to learn more so I can return and teach my students what I have learned.

My Project

I am requesting funds to attend a program on Scratch Creative Computing. My students are excited about coding and they want to learn more. Although I teach them coding, I need more education to help my students to develop a deeper understanding.

As I learn more, my students will benefit by learning more.

With a deeper understanding of coding, students will be able to apply that knowledge to programming robots or creating simple programs themselves.

What I teach at the elementary school level, lays the foundation for what they will continue to explore at the 5th grade level and beyond.
