My students need class set of Ozbots (robots). The Ozbots will give students hands on experience with coding and engineering. Students will learn two different types of coding: Ozoblockly and color coding made with markers.
I teach a class of 21 amazing kindergarten students who are eager to learn, yet many of them have limited opportunities and resources at home. They work very hard and are so appreciative of even the smallest things. Like all children, they deserve the very best. Many of my students come from low-income backgrounds and are limited in their experiences and knowledge. My goal is for my students' first year in school to be successful, memorable and fun! I want to be able to provide these incredible children with amazing resources and opportunities, but I cannot do it alone. This is why I reach out to you, the gracious donors of Donors Choose.
My Project
The Ozbot classroom kit will give students hands on experience with coding. As the teacher I can create multidisciplinary units for the students to work through with their Ozbots. Not only are students extending math standards but they are coding along the way!
The Ozbots will give students opportunities to communicate and collaborate as they use their problem solving strategies to solve math problems and code in inventive ways!
Coding introduces critical thinking, problem solving, the scientific method, algorithms, and more! These robots are unique in their use of light sensors to detect colors and the color sequences tell them what to do!
We need to prepare our students for jobs that are not yet created!
