This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from low-income socioeconomic backgrounds and all students participate in the free lunch program. The students have many different needs and abilities. They are willing to work hard when it is time to learn, but are ready to play when we are out of the classroom.
My students love to learn, especially Math and Science.
We are beginning to turn our class into a paperless class, where we use technology for all of our work.
Our school is an urban public school in the inner city. We educate all students from a 4-year-old kindergarten through the fifth grade.
My Project
My students love to code! They have been working hard on coding small video games on different websites and are finally ready to move onto something more advanced. The Programmable Robot Kits for kids to learn coding will be great for groups of students that are not as advanced as other students at coding, but are still willing to learn and try. The LEGO Boost Creative Toolbox Building and Coding kit will be for my students that are more advanced and are ready to really increase the difficulty of what they are coding.
My students give up their recess to code because they are invested in what they are learning.
Coding is a great way for my students to stay engaged in educational materials when they are finished with their classwork.
