My Students

My students are curious, passionate, and energetic learners. They love coming to school! Many of them have difficulty with focus and attention. My students enter my classroom each day eager to learn and be challenged. They love anything that ties in technology and coding.

Our school is in a small community with a very diverse population.

Our school is low-income, and close to 80% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, but that doesn’t stop my students! This is the same community that inspired me to become a teacher! My goal is to instill a love for learning in my students that will take them far in life.

My Project

My students love to code and learn about new types of technology. They practice coding on various other platforms on a daily basis.

The Dot and Dash coding robots will spark creativity in my students.

Using the robots will also encourage my students to use their imagination while helping them develop problem-solving skills. Other skills also include design thinking, spatial awareness, scientific thinking, mathematical reasoning, creative storytelling, and computational thinking. The robots will interact with my students using puzzles and challenges that span all subject areas. My students will be building 21st Century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills that will prepare them for tomorrow’s job market. Play is a powerful teaching tool!
