Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an enthusiastic, ready to learn group of kids. There has never been a harder working group of students. They are always excited for the day and what it has in store for them.
I work in a large school with a high population of English Language Learning students.
We are also a Title I school and have many low-income families. 100 percent of our families are provided free and reduced lunch. Many of our families work several jobs and students are up early attending before and after school programs, as well as coming to school still willing to give it their all.
Despite the challenges that many of my students face, they are here every day with a smile on their face waiting to see what they will learn. I want them to know that they are important and that I believe in them as students and learners. My students understand the value of hard work, but they need the tools and guidance to become the best people they can be.
My Project
This project will provide my students with needed STEM materials to further their knowledge and exploration in robotics and coding. The Android tablets and robot kits are the key to their success. Giving students opportunities to explore these areas beyond the basic lesson are important to the future of our students and our society.
Students, literate in STEM, show an understanding of the world through the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
Through exploration in these areas, students begin to see the value in current technologies and the need for further advancements, all while using their knowledge of Life, Earth/Space and Physical sciences to understand the natural world and that technology is a manipulation of the natural resources of our Earth.
