Coding Made Easy for Students

Help me give my students Sphero Mini to learn how to code. These programmable robotic balls allow students to try lines of code and see immediate results.

My Students

Every year, I have a wonderful group of students. Most work hard in understanding the concepts that I teach them. Alas, some students struggle with these subjects. One thing I love about teaching is giving my students an opportunity to learn using hands-on experience.

I love it when students use hands-on activities and suddenly their eyes light up and their confidence soars.

They finally understand. In 5th-grade there are many hard lessons that students need to learn in just one year. With determination, grit, and perseverance my students can learn and succeed.

My Project

I run an after-school program for Girls Who Code. I needed some tools that would help the girls learn how to code and be easy enough to use. These Sphero Minis will let the girls use a robotic ball to see what the line of code does. As the girls add more coding lines, the Sphero Mini will react. The coding program was so successful, that I did another program for all students. These students are at all levels of coding that the Sphero Minis are helpful for all levels of understanding.

I hope to encourage more girls and boys to learn how to code, to use their creativity and help their problem-solving skills.

The Sphero Minis give students a chance to collaborate together to problem solve an achievable goal. I hope to eventually get a classroom set to let all students learn to code.
