Our high school is made up of about two thousand students. We have a mix of races and socioeconomic backgrounds. We also have a large military population, so many of our students come from a wide variety of educational experiences. Our school, teachers, and students work hard each day.
I teach about one hundred high school students each day.
The way the curriculum is set up, students don't receive a lot of self-guided instruction until they reach high school. I work hard to make sure that the students get as many hands-on experiences as possible. I want to help prepare them for college and life after school. I try to make my class fun and interesting for the students.
My Project
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields are an ever-growing entity. By providing students with meaningful STEM experiences, I hope to prepare students for their future successes. It is essential that students maintain their curiosity and creativity while pairing it with their growing skills of practicality and problem-solving. I want to help students identify things that they cannot solve yet and then work through a way to bring a solution to fruition. My students often do not have access to the types of technology and resources that would prepare them for these successes at home. This makes it even more essential that we provide them with these experiences at school.
To achieve their highest potential in this age of technology, my students need greater access to technology that will allow them to explore and create through hands-on experiences.
A Makey Makey is a system based on the idea that everyone is an inventor. Using a series of circuits, students can code and invent anything that they can dream up. I feel that utilizing technology to foster academic growth, creativity, and excitement to help others and grow is essential for my students. Additionally, they need guidebooks to help them work through the basics of coding in a real-world environment.
